# Paseo vs intentic: agents on your machine, from every device

Compare Paseo, the open-source agentic development environment at paseo.sh, on clients, relay encryption, isolation, agents and team triggers.

Paseo runs many coding agents at once, on any machine, from your desk and from your phone. A daemon manages Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi and 30+ more agents, and desktop, mobile, web and CLI clients connect to it.

The short answer

Paseo is the closest in shape: a daemon on your machine owns the agents, and clients come and go. Choose it for native desktop and phone apps, an end-to-end encrypted relay and no container to maintain. Choose intentic for agents inside a Docker sandbox, review before work lands and shared team workspaces in the free product.

Both are open source, both run agents on your own subscriptions, and in both the work keeps running after you close the client.

A service on your machine that owns the agents · In both, a long-running process on your laptop, desktop or server runs the agents, and clients connect to it. Close every client and the agents keep working; open another device and they are still there.

| Dimension | intentic | Paseo |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Licence | MIT | Apache-2.0 for the app, relay and Hub |
| Clients | Browser workspace on any device | ▸Desktop, native iOS and Android, web and CLI |
| Remote connection | Private tunnel through intentic's relay, decrypted in memory to route; or the local address | ▸Direct, Tailscale, SSH, or an opt-in end-to-end encrypted relay you can self-host |
| Isolation | Docker sandbox plus a git worktree per conversation | Agents run as the daemon's user; worktrees optional |
| Setup | One command starts a Docker sandbox | ▸Desktop app, npm, Nix or Docker; no telemetry or forced login |
| Triggers | Schedules, webhooks and service events in the free product | Schedules and heartbeats; GitHub, Slack and Discord triggers through Paseo Hub |
| Teams | Free shared workspaces; teammates invited by email | Hub seats and invitations; shared settings planned |

## The main differences

01

### Native clients or one browser workspace

Paseo ships desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux, native iOS and Android apps, a web app and a CLI. intentic is a browser workspace; a phone opens the same interface in its browser.

02

### How the remote connection is protected

Paseo's relay is opt-in and end-to-end encrypted, so it cannot read your traffic; you can also self-host it or connect directly. intentic's private tunnel runs through its relay, which decrypts browser traffic in memory to route it and stores none of it. Opening a sandbox at its local address skips the relay.

03

### Isolation and review

Paseo runs agents as the daemon's user, with worktrees optional, and its docs note that a Docker-hosted daemon is no substitute for careful mounts. intentic runs every agent in a Docker sandbox with a git worktree per conversation and lands changes only after you review the diff.

## When to choose Paseo

Pick Paseo if you want native apps on every desktop and phone, a relay that cannot read your traffic, and an agent layer with no container to maintain. It is open source down to the relay and Hub, and its voice mode runs locally. Choose intentic for sandboxed agents, review before landing and free team workspaces.

## Paseo: common questions

### What is Paseo?

Paseo is an open-source agentic development environment. A daemon on your laptop, a server or a Docker container runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and other agents, and desktop, mobile, web and CLI clients connect to it. One person maintains it full time, funded by sponsors and Paseo Hub.

### Is Paseo free and open source?

Yes. The app is Apache-2.0, with a preamble for third-party components, and the relay and Hub are Apache-2.0 too. Paseo Hub has a free plan, a paid Pro plan and a self-hosted option. intentic is MIT and free to self-host.

### Is the Paseo relay end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. The relay is off on new installs; once enabled, traffic between your phone and the daemon is end-to-end encrypted and the relay sees only metadata such as IP addresses and message sizes. intentic's relay decrypts browser traffic in memory to route it and stores none of it; a sandbox's local address avoids it.

### Does Paseo have mobile apps?

Yes. Paseo has native iOS and Android apps, plus a web app and desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux. The built-in browser runs only in the desktop app. intentic's workspace runs in any browser, including a phone's.

### Which agents does Paseo support?

Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, OMP, Antigravity and Muse Code have custom integrations, and any ACP agent can run, such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI or Qwen Code. intentic runs Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok, Kimi Code and Devin natively, plus ACP agents.

### Paseo vs Orca or Conductor: which should I choose?

Paseo and Orca are both free and open source, with desktop and mobile clients. Orca is a desktop IDE built around terminals; Paseo is a daemon built around agent chat that can run headless. Conductor is a proprietary Mac app with managed cloud workspaces. intentic puts each agent in a Docker sandbox.
